Miscellaneous newspapers collection, 1887-1904.

The collection is in two parts. One part (vols. 4, 6-7, 9-11, 12-17) is single issues or short runs of miscellaneous newspaper titles, mostly from Minnesota but including a few other states. The other part (vols. 5, 21-24) is a collection of single issues of various Minnesota newspapers compiled for a "Minnesota Newspaper Exhibit" at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois in 1893. The Minnesota Historical Society has extensive runs of many of the newspaper titles contained in this collection. These newspaper titles are also cataloged individually.

The World's Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World’s Fair, was organized in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s landing in America.
